Transfer news: Wenger confirms Aubameyang-Giroud talks

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has admitted that they are in talks with Borussia Dortmund over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but insisted that a deal is still “not close”.

The Gunners’ CEO, Ivan Gazidis, has travelled to Germany as part of a club delegation, to seal Aubameyang’s transfer.

“Confident or not confident? I don’t know. At the moment, we are not close to doing any deal, whether it’s Aubameyang or anyone else,” Wenger told a news conference on Tuesday.

Dortmund reportedly want Arsenal striker, Olivier Giroud as part of any deal, but Wenger said a final decision has not been made.

“Look, the negotiations are not as far as that.

“You never know how close they [negotiations] are. These are the kind of things that, at the moment, are one of the possible movements. We have other things in mind as well and we have plenty of opportunities in different positions. The final decision is not made,” he added.
