Tottenham are attempting to hijack Arsenal’s bid to land Bordeaux winger, Malcom.
Malcom looked set to join the Gunners this month, after the club held talks with his representatives.
But Arsene Wenger has turned his attention to securing Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Manchester United and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund.
Wenger all but ruled out a move for the Brazilian on Thursday.
“No. I don’t think we are close to doing that. No, I don’t think so,” he said.
It has opened the door for Spurs, who are reported to have had their own discussions with Malcom’s agent.
The player is likely to cost around £40million.
