Roma’s sporting director, Monchi has refused to rule out the prospect of Chelsea signing striker, Edin Dzeko and left-back, Emerson Palmieri.
Speaking before Roma’s fixture against Inter on Saturday evening, Monchi suggested that the club was seriously considering Chelsea’s proposal but assured fans that replacements will be signed.
“Whatever happens will be done thinking about what’s best for the club and the team,” he said.
“In my mind is always the desire to strengthen the squad, which is my job.
“My work is 365 days a year. We are always ready to seek and find players for the present and the future. “It’s not just one or two days looking for players.”
Chelsea are in the market for a striker to provide competition for Alvaro Morata and are working on a deal to bring Dzeko to Stamford Bridge this month.
Dzeko, who finished as Serie A’s top scorer last season with 29 goals, has reportedly already agreed to join Antonio Conte’s side.
Meanwhile, Palmeri is wanted as an alternative option to Marcos Alonso on Conte’s left flank, and Chelsea are looking to complete a deal with Roma for both players for around £44 million.
