Liverpool is set to go for Chelsea’s first choice goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, if they failed to land Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak and Alison Becker.
Courtois has been linked to Liverpool, with his Stamford Bridge future shrouded in uncertainty.
The Belgium international has been ever-present for Chelsea ever since 2014 when Jose Mourinho brought him back from loan at Atletico Madrid.
But the Belgium No 1 is yet to sign a new Chelsea contract with just one year remaining in his current deal.
Liverpool could make a move with question marks lingering over the heads of both Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet.
Liverpool Echo reports that a transfer is not to be ruled out.
It is said that manager Jurgen Klopp will only go for the player if he misses out on two other targets: Becker and Oblak who are thought to be high on the list of his reinforcements.
But Liverpool may miss out on both players.
Real Madrid, while also holding an interest in Courtois, would love to lure Alisson away from Roma.
And Atletico Madrid may price suitors out of a deal for Oblak, who has a huge £89million release clause.
The Liverpool Echo reports that if that happens, Liverpool have a chance of signing Courtois.
Chelsea may even have their hand forced due to the player leaving for nothing in a year’s time.
The other is Dominic Solanke, who has emerged as a transfer target for Steven Gerrard at Rangers.
