Chelsea have set aside £53 million to sign Lyon midfielder ,Tanguy N’Dombele as a potential replacement for N’Golo Kante.
Kante who joined the Blues for £32 million from Leicester City two seasons ago, has been heavily linked to a move to Paris Saint-Germain, PSG this summer.
Reports emerged in France last week claiming that PSG’s sporting director, Antero Henrique travelled to London to hold talks about a potential deal for the 27-year-old.
It has also been claimed that the box-to-box midfielder would be interested to move to the French capital city club, but is waiting to find out the identity of Chelsea’s new manager to replace Antonio Conte.
French outfit, L’Equipe reports on Monday that Chelsea have opened talks with Lyon president, Jean- Michel Aulas about a deal for N’Dombele.
The newspaper further claimed that Chelsea have made a direct approach to N’Dombele’s representatives to plan in the event of Kante’s departure.
Lyon had earlier rejected a €40m (£35m) opening bid from Tottenham for N’Dombele and value the 21-year-old at around €60m (£53m).
During a press conference yesterday, Kante, said, “I am not concerned with all that,’ said the midfielder.
“Today, I am at Chelsea, and today I am currently living and playing in the World Cup, that is what comes first. I am not paying attention to what is being said on the club side of things at the moment.”
