Former Premier League champions, Chelsea have officially announced that midfielder, Mario Pasalic has been loaned out to Serie A club, Atalanta for the whole of the 2018-2019 campaign.
The Blues, in a statement, announced the departure of the 23-year-old on their official website on Wednesday.
Pasalic signed for the West London club from Hajduk Split in 2014.
The Croatia international is yet to debut for Chelsea’s first team in a competitive match.
The midfielder was previously loaned to Elche, Monaco, AC Milan and Spartak Moscow due to his lack of first-team opportunities.
Pasalic was named in Croatia’s provisional squads for the 2014 and 2018 World Cups in Brazil and Russia respectively.
He travelled with the Chelsea squad to Australia for the friendly against Perth Glory and was introduced in the second half.
“Mario Pasalic will spend the coming season on loan at Serie A side Atalanta,” Chelsea confirmed in a statement.
“Pasalic enjoyed a productive season on loan at Spartak Moscow in 2017/18, making 28 appearances and featuring in both the Champions League and Europa League.
“The midfielder has previous experience in Serie A after being loaned to AC Milan in 2016/17.
“Having played the second half of our friendly win over Perth Glory on Monday, he now heads back to the Italian top flight to continue his development with Atalanta,” the club announced.
