Transfer news: Aubameyang’s move to Arsenal slowed down

Arsenal have reportedly slowed down in their bid to secure a deal for Borussia Dortmund striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Express Sport reports that Aubameyang’s transfer has been slowed down with Dortmund unwilling to sanction his exit until they have signed a replacement first.

After letting forward, Alexis Sanchez join Manchester United, Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger is keen to fill the void by signing a world-class striker.

According to the report, negotiations are likely to drag on for Aubameyang, with £55million being demanded for the Gabonese international.

Arsenal chief executive, Ivan Gazidis was spotted in Dortmund on Monday along with head of recruitment Sven Mislintat as they try to thrash out a deal for Aubameyang.

Gazidis said: “We had a very contentious discussion today. We’re not used to this behaviour from him.

“What is going on now is not to be tolerated by the club. It is clear, It cannot go on like this.

“I don’t know what is going through his mind. I don’t recognise him anymore.”

The report suggests Arsenal remain confident of landing the 28-year-old.

Meanwhile, when asked last week why Aubameyang could be sold, Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc said: “At some point you can’t tolerate it any more.

“I don’t know what’s going on inside his head.”
