Transfer news: Arsenal moves to sign €60m Barcelona star, Cillessen ahead of Chelsea

Arsenal have taken one step ahead of Chelsea in approaching Barcelona to ask about the availability of their goalkeeper, Jasper Cillessen, this Summer.
The North London club are in the market for a long-term successor to goalkeeper, Petr Cech, who turned 36 last month.
The Gunners manager, Unai Emery has asked the club’s board to sign a new goalkeeper this summer.
Metro Uk reports that Arsenal have made a direct approach to Barcelona’s hierarchy to gauge whether a deal for Cillessen is possible.
According to the British newspaper, Chelsea have also enquired about Cillessen’s availability due to the uncertainty over their goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois’ future.
Cillessen is currently second choice to Marc-Andre ter Stegen at Nou Camp, but is understood to be willing to remain at Barcelona unless he receives an offer he can’t reject.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are ready to stand firm and are not prepared to sell the 29-year-old for anything lower than his €60 million (£52m) release clause.
