Transfer: Manchester United tell Lukaku to leave club

Manchester United have told their Belgian striker, Romelu Lukaku that he can leave the club, according to The Sun, UK.

Lukaku has been heavily tipped to leave Old Trafford this summer as part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s drastic squad overhaul.

Lukaku, according to the newspaper, was informed by club chiefs he can leave Old Trafford after they held showdown talks on Wednesday.

The Belgian international spoke to club officials regarding his future after he returned from an end of season holiday in America.

Manchester United’s officials told the player he would be allowed to leave this summer – but only for a substantial fee.

Italian giants, Inter Milan and Juventus are both interested in the former Everton star but United vice Chief Executive, Ed Woodward wants a deal worth just over the £75m.

It is understood he would consider players being part of a cash and swap deal – particularly from Inter Milan, with Milan Skriniar and Ivan Perisic on Woodward’s radar.

The Begium star will consider a move despite not handing in a formal transfer request.
