Transfer: Manchester United make final decision of Willian, Martial swap deal

Manchester United have kicked against swapping Anthony Martial for Chelsea’s Willian.

The two Premier League giants were in talks for a possible swap deal involving both stars but United’s hierarchy has said it won’t happen this summer.

Chelsea forward, Willian has consistently been on Manchester United’s radar.

Jose Mourinho’s side has just five days to bring in new recruits but, so far, their top targets are proving elusive.

And United are unlikely to sign the Chelsea forward this summer.

United and Chelsea have explored a swap deal that would involve Martial moving to Stamford Bridge as Willian’s replacement.

The France international is determined to quit Old Trafford after two years of toiling under Mourinho’s tutelage.

Express Sports reports that Manchester United chose to walk away from the Chelsea deal.

The club’s hierarchy thought that, from a business perspective, the transfer would not be beneficial.

Martial is just 22 with Willian seven years older.

And United chiefs reportedly thought it would be unwise to swap a young talent for experienced head – particularly with a Premier League rival.
