Manchester are still in a position to hijack Tottenham Hotspur’s deal for Tanguy Ndombele, despite their Premier League rivals agreeing a fee with Lyon for the midfielder, L’Equipe reports.
Spurs and Lyon have come to terms over a £55million deal for Ndombele, plus a further £9m in add-ons.
Ndombele is keen for a big-money move this summer and Lyon are prepared to sell to the highest bidder.
As the player is yet to agree personal terms with Tottenham, it leaves the door open for United to make a last-minute attempt to hijack the deal for the 22-year-old.
United have held talks with Lyon, but feel there is no room currently in their squad for Ndombele, with Paul Pogba still on the books at the club.
If Pogba leaves and frees up the wage bill, United would be more likely to push ahead with their pursuit of Ndombele.
