Representatives of Atletico Madrid midfielder, Rodri have paid his release clause to LaLiga today, Marca reports.
They arrived at LaLiga’s offices and handed over the €70million needed to make him a free agent.
It is strongly believed that the €70million was handed over to them by his future club, Manchester City.
Official announcements from the respective clubs are expected imminently.
City boss, Pep Guardiola, has identified the 22-year-old as a long-term replacement for 34-year-old Fernandinho at the Etihad.
Rodri had told Atletico Madrid’s president, Angel Gil Marin, that he wants to leave the club this summer despite manager Diego Simeone persuading him to stay one more season.
