Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has said that City is a less attractive club to play for than Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Guardiola, who is in his third season as City manager, is interested in signing Ajax’s Frenkie De Jong, according to reports. But so are Barcelona and Madrid.
Guardiola has now admitted that these interests make the transfer less likely for the reigning Premier League champions.
“If you are the only one who want players it’s easy,” Metro UK quoted Guardiola as saying.
“But if you want one and many, many clubs want him it’s more complicated, especially if it’s Madrid or Barcelona.
“Normally when you are involved with Madrid and Barcelona you are going to lose. You have to be quicker and more efficient.
“But I’m not talking about the case of the Ajax player [Frenkie De Jong] because he is an Ajax player. There are many players, not just one if it doesn’t happen.”
Manchester City’s next fixture is against Wolves on Monday in the Premier League.
