Arsenal legend, Emmanuel Petit, has admitted that he should have snubbed a move to Chelsea and signed for Manchester United.

Petit had two stints in the Premier League from 1997-2000 with the Gunners (where he won the league and FA Cup in 1998) and from 2001-2004 with Chelsea.

He made a total of 140 appearances in six years, scoring 11 goals and making 23 assists.

In-between his time in the English top flight, he spent one season with Barcelona.

In an extensive interview with Paddy Power Pitch Invader magazine, Petit said he was unhappy at Barcelona, then was asked who he received Premier League transfer offers from.

“Well, Alex Ferguson called me twice, Arsene Wenger came to see me, as did Claudio Ranieri, who I invited into my home and ended up signing for Chelsea.

“I should have listened to the voice in my head telling me to go to Manchester United. It would have been a dream playing alongside those players,” he said.
