Transfer deadline: Chelsea defender finally leaves Stamford Bridge for new club

Chelsea have confirmed that Defender Josh Grant has left the club to join Plymouth Argyle on loan.

Grant, 20, joined the League Two side on loan until January 2020.

The UEFA Europa League champions made this known in a statement on the club’s official website on Thursday.

The statement read: “Josh Grant has today joined League Two side Plymouth Argyle on loan until January.

“It is the second loan move for our young defender following time spent at Yeovil Town last term, where he made eight appearances for the Glovers.

“Having first joined Chelsea as an Under-8, Grant won a number of trophies during his time in our Academy, including the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League. He picked up our Scholar of the Year award in 2015/16 and has represented England up to Under-20 level.

“The 20-year-old will now continue his development at Home Park for the first part of this season. Plymouth opened their league campaign with a 3-0 win away at Crewe Alexandra at the weekend.”
