Ajax defender, Matthijs de Ligt has agreed to a deal to join La Liga champions, Barcelona, reports Oriol Domenech.
De ligt is currently one of the best defenders in the world.
According to the newspaper, the defender has now agreed figures on a deal with Barcelona.
This is bad news for Liverpool, who had identified the 19-year-old as one of their potential signings this summer.
Former Liverpool midfielder, Danny Murphy had said that De Ligt would be an ‘incredible addition’ to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
Barcelona have already signed Ajax’s midfielder, Frenkie de Jong, in a £67million deal and it appears they are closing in on the centre-back.
Ex-Spanish footballer and Sport analyst, Oriol Domenech, while speaking on the Club de la Mitjanit programme on Esport 3, said the numbers are in place to get the done deal.
Domenech has claimed that De Ligt’s agent, Mino Raiola is in talks with Barcelona representatives in Monaco as they look to thrash out finer details of the transfer.
