Manchester United have ended talks with Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen, as he prefers a move to Spain, the BBC reports.
The Spurs midfielder has less than a year left on his contract and has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
United have now moved on to talks with other targets, as Thursday’s deadline looms.
The news that the potential deal for Eriksen could be off, will not be good news for Zinedine Zidane, who has been desperate to sign Pogba.
Los Blancos can still sign the World Cup winner up until September 2, which is when the Spanish window closes.
But United will be even more reluctant to sell Pogba, should they not be able to replace him before Thursday.
Spurs’ options to replace Eriksen include Philippe Coutinho on loan from Barcelona and Paulo Dybala from Juventus.
