Chelsea want Manchester United to challenge Barcelona in their bid for Brazilian ace, Willian.
Willian looks set to leave Chelsea this summer as United and Barca continue to chase his signature. Barcelona have made three bids for the forward in recent weeks.
They previously made two offers of £50m and £55m which were rebuffed by Chelsea leading to a third bid of £65m plus add-ons
English medium, Daily Mail reports that Chelsea want United to launch an offer of their own in order to start a bidding war.
The Blues are looking to hike up Willian’s price before next month’s deadline.
The newspaper also reports that new boss, Maurizio Sarri is ready to keep the player in west London this season.
Willian had insisted that talk over a potential move away from West London would not distract him while playing for Brazil in the World Cup.
The 29-year-old, was asked about a potential reunion with fellow countryman, Philippe Coutinho in Spain during the World Cup, and he responded, “Well, they are excellent players with a lot of quality.
“In addition to great players, they are very good friends. People speculate a lot.
“We see a lot of things on the internet, but this is not the time to talk about this.
“I’ve not received any information about that.
“I’m trying to focus on my performance, playing for Brazil.”
