Transfer: Chelsea enter race to sign Bayern Munich’s Thiago

Premier League giants, Chelsea and Manchester United have both spoken to Bayern Munich about the availability of Spain midfielder, Thiago.

The Bundesliga champions are believed to be open to letting the 27-year-old leave the club for the right price as new manager, Niko Kovac aims to trim his squad ahead of his first season in charge.

Thiago was close to a move to Old Trafford in 2013 from Barcelona but Pep Guardiola, then at Bayern, held the player for the German giants.

ESPN reports that United and Chelsea have now entered the race to sign the player.

The former Barcelona midfielder is widely seen as one of the most naturally gifted midfielders on the planet and could command a fee in the region of £50m.

His former club, Barcelona are also keen on taking him back to the Nou Camp.
