Transfer: Chelsea agree to pay Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak’s £89million release clause

Chelsea have agreed to pay Atletico Madrid’s goalkeeper, Jan Oblak’s £89million release clause in the next 24 hours.

Chelsea’s first choice goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois told Maurizio Sarri on Monday he wanted to leave the club and asked the manager to sanction his transfer to Real Madrid.

The Blues had been frustrated in their attempts to secure a replacement for Courtois.

Spanish newspaper, Mundo Deportivo reports that Chelsea have now concluded arrangement to sign Atletico Madrid stopper Oblak.

The goalkeeper is one of the world’s best, but several big club suitors have been scared off by the Slovenian’s release clause.

The club owner, Roman Abramovich has opted to spend a bit more on a goalkeeper who has proven his pedigree over several seasons.

Chelsea will make their move for Oblak in a matter of few hours, according to the newspaper.

Courtois and his Belgium team-mate Eden Hazard reported for pre-season at Cobham on Monday, and met with new boss Maurizio Sarri.
