Barcelona do not want Denis Suarez to join Arsenal this month, either on loan or on a permanently deal, the Mirror reports.
The Gunners are believed to be closing in on the midfielder and are confident they can land Suarez in a £20million transfer.
The Premier League club would prefer a loan deal with a view to a permanent switch in the summer and Barcelona were thought to be keen to offload the underperforming Spaniard.
But it is now understood Barcelona are now trying to block Suarez’s exit and want to keep hold of the 25-year-old.
The Spanish champions have even told Arsenal they do not want to do business, which could be a major blow to Unai Emery’s January plans.
Emery is on the hunt for several additions to his squad, with a midfielder, a winger and a defender on his wanted list.
