An elderly man was on Tuesday crushed to death by a speeding train along the Ogbete Market in Enugu metropolis.
DAILY POST reports that several people were also left with various degrees of injuries as the train which was in a high speed allegedly came to the area without hooting the horn.
The train is believed be returning from Port Harcourt, the River State capital, when the incident occurred.
An eyewitness disclosed that before killing the victim, the train had nearly smashed a keke NAPEP operator at Zik Avenue area, before coming into the Ogbete market.
One of the drivers who narrowly cheated death during the incident had this to say “God saved Nigerians because what the man driving the train planed was to massacre people.
“If not God, who made it possible for all the vehicles to move out of the road miraculously, we all would have perished.”
The Enugu State Police Public Relations officer, PPRO, Ebere Amarizu confirmed the incident.
He described it as horrible, wondering why the train driver should be on high speed without horning.
