An inferno on Sunday killed an eight-year-old girl, Hafsat, and completely razed a house in Damikashi village, Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa state.
Mother of deceased, Uzaima explained that the fire started at about 10:00 pm of Sunday night while they were sleeping in their rooms.
She explained that they shouted for help but before the fire could be quenched it has completely consumed the whole house including her little daughter, Hafsat, and all of their belongings.
“I saw the fire when I wake up from sleep so I started shouting seeking for help and my little daughter was killed and we never removed anything from the house except the clothes on our body,” she cried.
She called on the government, non governmental organisations and individuals to come to her rescue.
The cause of the fire could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.
The Corps’ Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Adamu Abdullahi confirmed the incident, and advised residents to be extra careful while using fire especially during this harmattan season.
