Transactions at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) resumed for the week on Monday on a positive trend with the market indices increasing by 0.38 per cent.
This is due to the price growth by some blue chip equities.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the market capitalisation rose by N43 billion to close at N11.396 trillion against the N11.353 trillion posted on Friday.
Similarly, the All-Share Index increased by 126.69 points or 0.38 per cent to close at 33,384.59 compared with 33,257.90 achieved on Friday.
NAN reports that the market dropped for four consecutive days last week as a result of sell pressure.
A breakdown of the price movement chart indicated that Nigerian Breweries led the gainers’ table, improving by N2.55 to close at N150.57 per share.
Presco came second with a gain of N1.60 to close at N33.60, while Lafarge Africa appreciated by N1 to close at N100 per share.
International Breweries increased by 92k to close at N19.44, while Unilever grew by 50k to close at N45.50 per share.
On the other hand, Mobil Oil topped the losers’ chart, dropping by N2.99 to close at N146.01 per share.
Okomuoil trailed with a loss of N1.57 to close at N29.98, while 7UP Bottling Company dipped 90k to close at N177.20 per share.
Guinness lost 85k to close at N164.15 and Cadbury dropped 57k to close at N37 per share.
However, the volume of shares traded closed lower with an exchange of 278.11 million shares worth N3.83 billion transacted in 3,467 deals.
This was against 390.53 million shares valued N4.86 billion traded in 4,291 deals on Friday.
Zenith Bank drove the activity with a total of 97.64 million shares worth N1.89 billion achieved in 308 deals.
It was followed by Fidson Health Care which accounted for 27.28 million shares valued N94.14 million traded in 22 deals, while UBA sold 20.68 million shares worth N107.20 million in 154 deals.
Access Bank exchanged 12.43 million shares valued N78.01 million traded in 100 deals and FBN Holdings accounted for 11.31 million shares worth N93.51 million exchanged in 414 deals. (NAN)
