Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has tipped Tottenham Hotspur as one of the favourites to lift the UEFA Champions League trophy this season.
The Portuguese spoke on Monday ahead of his side’s Premier League clash away to Spurs on Wednesday.
Tottenham are currently fifth in the league table, eight points behind second-placed United.
Mourinho told reporters, “It is one of the top teams in the country.
“Not a title contender this season because they are too far away. But I say honestly they are a Champions League contender, they can reach that level.
“They have some of the best players in the country, a very good manager and a very difficult opponent.
“Last season we gave up on that fight when we felt that it was going to be very difficult to do that, plus the injuries, plus the Europa League.
“Tottenham are fifth but they are one of the best teams in the league, so fifth, fourth, third – it’s not important for the match. The important thing is the great quality they have.”
