Football pundit, Jamie Redknapp, has noted that Arsenal football club are being outshone by city rivals Tottenham when it comes to securing the future of their top talent.
Tottenham players such as Dele Alli, Kyle Walker and Danny Rose have recently extended their contracts at White Hart Lane, while Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are yet to decide on new deals.
Both Ozil and Sanchez will have their current deals at the Emirates expire next year, which is creating distraction in the club.
Redknapp, who is a former Tottenham player, said, “Tottenham are in a really good position. They’re so close to doing something special there.”
“There’s no disrespect and I’m not having a go between Arsenal and Tottenham but Arsenal have got Ozil and Sanchez not signed up on long-term contracts so that doesn’t send a great message to players because if someone like Thierry Henry came along at 21-years-of-age came on the market one of the things he would want to know is ‘how long is Sanchez going to stay for? Am I going to be playing alongside him?
“So they’re the problems Arsenal have that Tottenham don’t.”
