Tornadoes will do well in NPFL next season – Biffo

Head coach of Niger Tornadoes, Abdullahi Biffo, has said that his team will do well in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) next season.

Biffo led the Minna club to a 1-0 victory over Plateau United in the Super Four tournament in Abuja on Sunday. It is the second time he has won the Nigeria National League (NNL) title, having done so with Giwa FC in 2013.

He expressed his delight over his side’s performance and promised they will remain focused as they seek to clinch a continental ticket next season.

“I’m very elated and very happy because it is not by winning the trophy but the way my boys played,” Biffo said.

“After the first half, I told them they have done everything perfectly only to be calm and get the goals. I’m glad they did that very well by scoring a goal early in the second half.

“This victory is a huge motivation and gives us a good sign of getting better prepared for the Nigeria Professional Football League.

“Finishing as champions of the NNL will give us a confidence boost that we can contend against any team in the NPFL.

“We have identified areas in which we are going to work upon to get ready for next season. Our ambition now is to challenge top teams in the premier league and win one of the continental tickets.

“I’m so happy personally doing this again after I won with Giwa in 2013 and now with Tornadoes.”
