Top Boko Haram Commander Killed in Maiduguri

The Joint Task Force on operation restore order in Borno has said a special operation was conducted at Ruwan – Zafi area of Maiduguri metropolis by its troops and Operatives of Dept of State Security, at about 3:00 am on Friday, 26 April, 2013.

A statement issued by the JTF and made available to DailyPost in Maiduguri on Saturday said the operation led to the death of a notorious Boko Haram terrorist, Mohammed Chad, an indigene of Marte, Borno State that has been declared wanted by the JTf. He was reportedly killed in the shootout.

The JTF further said that Intelligence reports showed that he was involved in the planning/execution of many terrorist attacks in and outside Borno State.

According to the statement, “For instance, he masterminded the attack on Sanda Karami Secondary School located at Ruwan Zafi, where they killed a teacher and injured 3 female students on 18 March 13, 2013.”

The statement also said that he was to become the successor of Ba,ana Assalafi, a key Boko Haram Commander who was killed during a shoot out with security agencies in Sokoto, on 13 March 2013.
