Head coach of Abia Warriors, Kennedy Boboye, has played down talk that his side are favourites to win the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title this season.
The Umuahia team are the only unbeaten club in the Nigerian topflight so far, after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Enugu Rangers last weekend.
“I don’t like talking about the NPFL title because it’s too early to talk about it.
“Even at this, we will keep working hard to get into the continent or get the champions’ trophy at the end of the season for Abia Warriors,” Boboye told Goal.
Boboye, whose team is currently five points behind leaders MFM FC, insists he is not under pressure to deliver at the end of the season.
“I’m not under much pressure because every other team are also battling hard to get the trophy.
“But with the caliber of player we have coupled with hard work and concentration, we should be able to give our rivals a good fight.
“It’s all about changing the mentality of the players and making them know what you stand out for which everybody will key into, this is what I have brought into the team.
“Aside from this, I don’t work with lazy player everybody must fight for his shirt to be in the team and with that I get over a hundred and ten percent seriousness from the players,” he concluded.
