Prominent sons and daughters of the Tiv nation have condemned statements credited to Senator Bola Tinubu that allegedly denigrated personalities from the ethnic nationality and for also debasing the names of prized personalities who have passed on in service to the nation into unnecessary power struggle.
DAILY POST recalls that Tinubu had in recent response to Senator Waku’s allegation that he (Tinubu) was sending the EFCC after Toyin Saraki, described the former Senator as “an individual with no shred of reputation and a political pariah in his home state”. According to Tinubu, “No one should pay former Senator Waku any attention. We know when he is broke and needs a quick fix. ‘’
The former Lagos governor said, “What he has said is fit for the trash. Waku is Godwin Daboh resurrected. No one should dignify Waku’s tales by moonlight with any attention or ever take him seriously. For any serious individual with a reputation to protect, Waku is a very poor hire.”
Reacting however, daughter of the late Dr. Godwin Daboh and renowned lawyer, Mrs. Eva Daboh-Aondo, in a press statement issued in Lafia and made available to newsmen on behalf of the Tiv nation, condemned in strong terms the “unfortunate comments” by Tinubu ,that was aimed at disparaging him and later Tiv leaders.
The statement said, “Senator Bola Tinubu, who is supposed to be a man of decorum, undermined the Tiv people by his negative comments without regards to the political support he has enjoyed among prominent Tiv sons like Senators Iorchia Ayu and George Akume. His perception of our late father is clearly based on misinformation and misconception.’’
Condemning the reference to Daboh, the statement said, ”When our late father was alive, he had profound regards for Senator Tinubu and it is puzzling how he could so hurt an entire race without recourse to mutual respect.”
