Archbishop Magnus Atilade of the Anglican Dioceses and the President of the Christian Welfare Initiative (CWI) has described the former governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a dogged fighter and a champion of good causes.
“Tinubu is fighting for all Nigerians and we need more people like him in this country,” he declared. The Archbishop made this statement while on a condolence visit to Sen. Tinubu over the death of his mother, Alhaja Abibat Asabi Mogaji.
Leading a team, consisting of clergies and members of the CWI, the Archbishop wondered aloud if Nigeria was cursed going by the level of poverty and government waste.
“Is Nigeria under a curse? No. But we need good leadership to deliver us.” He then went on to identify the likes of Bola Tinubu as having the qualities required for good leadership of the country. He then assured Sen. Tinubu, saying, “You have people that can stand behind you at all times”.
Archbishop Atilade described the Late Alhaja Mogaji as a righteous woman, who never discriminated against any religion or tribe. Quoting from the Bible, he said of Mama, “The memory of the righteous is everlasting.”
He also said Mama was a mobilizer per excellence, one who touched the lives of many people and played a pivotal role in what became the successful campaign of the Primary Health Program in Nigeria today.
“Mama had a heart of passion and compassion. She showed burden for others and showed kindness in attitude, words and deeds. Alhaja Abibat was her brother’s and sister’s keeper and a staunch supporter of what was just.”
He further testified that Mama treated all as family, though a disciplinarian. He congratulated Tinubu on having such an illustrious mother.
The Christian Interdenominational Prayers in memory of Alhaja Mogaji holds on Sunday, July 7th, at the Expo Hall of the Eko Hotels and Suites. The event is scheduled to start at 3pm.
