The timely intervention of the Police forestalled an attempt to bomb properties belonging the the All Progressive Congress, APC, governorship candidate, Prince Audu Abubakar.

This was contained in a statement on Sunday, by head of the media, Prince Abubakar Audu Campaign Organisation, Dr.Tom Ohikere.

He said a house and petrol station owned by the former governor were targeted.

According to Ohikere, the hoodlums were apprehended at Ejule in Kogi eastern by the men of the Special Anti Robbery Squad while on their way to carry their evil mission.

The state commissioner of police, Mr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, had paraded about eight suspects on Friday.

He said that the hoodlums were planning to disrupt the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

Ohikere, however, explained that the organisation’s investigations showed that Audu was being targeted to intimidate him.

He equally querried the true identities of those paraded by the police, alleging that they were not the same suspects arrested at Ejule with dangerous weapons and charms.

Continuing, the Audu campaign spokesman alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had marked some leaders of the APC in Kogi for attack ahead of the November 21 election.

He warned the PDP to “forget using any undemocratic means of remaining in power”, stressing that the electorates, who are tired of being deceived have decided to vote for positive change.

Ohikere, a one time commissioner for information in the state, enjoined law enforcement agents “to be vigilant and be proactive, insisting that anti democratic forces are hell bent on destabilizing the state”.

“We urge our teeming supporters to remain calm and law abiding, and be confident that the APC would send the clueless PDP-led administration in Kogi packing at the forthcoming governorship poll.”
