An Osun Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife, Wednesday, remanded three accused persons in prison custody for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl.
The accused persons, Biola Akinwande, 18, Ayoola Awodile, 25, and 19-year-old Sodiq Oyedele were arraigned on a count charge of rape.
Testifying before the court, the prosecuting officer, Cpl. Ronke Badmus, said the accused persons had on November 22 at about 2.pm conspired and committed the offence at No. 29, Oke-Atan Street in Ile-Ife area of the state.
Badmus told the court that the accused persons unlawfully had canal knowledge of the girl by threatening her with a toy gun and cutlasses.
According to the prosecuting officer, the offence contravened Section 357 and punishable under Sections 86 and 516 (1), (2) of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol. 11 Laws of Osun, 2003.
The accused persons however pleaded not guilty to the offence.
Counsel to the accused persons, Alaba Awoseemo, prayed the court to grant his client bail in most liberal terms, adding that the mother of the victim was not interested in prosecuting the case further but the prosuctor objected the plea.
In her view, the Magistrate ,Risikat Olayemi, ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody.
Olayemi adjourned the case till Dec. 28 for hearing.
