Threat to military will result to killing of women, children in Ijaw land – Evah tells milita

The Co-ordinator of Ijaw Monitoring Group, Comrade Joseph Evah, on behalf of the group and Ijaw elders, today urged ex-militants to consult Ijaw national leader, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, as well as other leaders under the auspices of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, on the ultimatum handed down the Federal Government to recall the Coordinator of Amnesty Programme, Brig. Gen Paul Boroh( Retd)s o that the world will see them as a united region.

The former Publicity Secretary of Ijaw National Congress, INC, said this in a statement made available to newsmen.

Evah also enjoined ex-militants to withdraw their threats and maintain peace in the region.

Evah stated that, “The threat will lead to the military mobilising against our villages and our women and children will suffer.

“Recently PANDEF set up committee on the amnesty office, therefore, the ex-militants should consult PANDEF leadership.

The planned demonstration of ex-militants around media houses will increase tension in the region and attract negative global flash points.

“We need a united front to tackle issues such as the Arewa group in the North, Afenifere in South-West and Ohanaeze Ndigbo in South East. The youths in our region should work with PANDEF on all issues affecting the region to make the region move faster in development matters.”
