Thomas Lemar would rather join Manchester United than Arsenal if he leaves Monaco.
Duncan Castles claims that the France winger, who has been a target for Gunners boss Arsene Wenger all summer, wants to follow in the footsteps of former team-mate Anthony Martial and join the Red Devils.
On Thursday, Wenger admitted that a move for Lemar was “dead”.
The 67-year-old saw a third bid of around €50million turned down two weeks ago by the Ligue 1 champions.
Speaking at his Thursday press conference ahead of this weekend’s trip to Liverpool, Wenger said: “It’s dead because Monaco have closed the door.
“They are still on cases like Mbappé and Fabinho [in terms of selling them]. They’ve already lost Mendy, Bernardo Silva and Bakayoko, so Monaco is at a stage where they have closed the door. Is it a frustration? We have the numbers and we have the quality to deal with that.”
Mourinho is believed to be eyeing a left winger and has so far failed to land Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan or Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale.
