Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has described the passing of former Technical Adviser to the Super Eagles, Coach Amodu Shuaibu as a moment of eclipse for the country’s football game.

Late Amodu, 58, was a household name in the colours of the state’s premiership side, Niger Tornadoes, when he played as striker between 1978 and 1981 and retired his football career in Minna following a broken leg in the field of play.

Bello said that the death of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical Director, coming just days after the nation lost one of its finest footballer and coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, was saddening.

His words: “The news of Amodu’s death has thrown the state into mourning. Amodu has always seen Niger State as his home because most of his football career was in Minna.

“We have indeed lost one of the pillar of football in our state and indeed in Nigeria and Africa”.

The governor commended the legendary roles Amodu and Keshi played to rescue Super Eagles in difficult times and prayed that God grants the duo eternal and perfect rest.

Bello also commiserated with the families, relatives, friends, NFF, and the entire nation on the demise of the late tacticians.
