Thierry Henry signs deal to become Monaco manager

Thierry Henry is the new manager of Monaco, ESPN FC reports.

The 2016/2017 Ligue 1 champions sacked Leonardo Jardim earlier this week and Henry, 41, will now replace him.

The former Arsenal and Barcelona striker has signed a three-year deal with the principality club.

The move is set to be made official on Sunday, with Henry, who is already working on his staff, presented the following day.

Henry, who started his career at Monaco and won the Ligue 1 title in 1997, had been serving as an assistant to Roberto Martinez at Belgium and was on the bench for Friday’s 2-1 UEFA Nations League victory over Switzerland.

He had previously been linked with the job at Aston Villa, who named Dean Smith as boss on Thursday.
