“There was no record of casualty” – NEMA statement on fire incident in INEC Annex

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has confirmed a firebreak that occurred this morning around 11am, gutting an office in the Annex Building of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Abuja.
In a statement by the agency’s Head of Public Relations, Yushau Shuaib, the Head of Abuja Operation Office of NEMA, Ishaya Chonoko, who was at the scene of the incident, responded timely by leading rescue officers especially firefighters from the Federal and FCT Fire Service to thwart the inferno from affecting other buildings within the premises.
The spokesman added that, “so far only one office (Office of the Director of Registry) was affected. There was no record of casualty because of the swift response to the distress call.”
The INEC Office is behind the Office of the National Emergency Management Agency in Maitama Abuja.
