Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, has refused to comment on Arsenal’s reported bid for Luis Suarez.

The Frenchman was responding to questions from the media, as his squad touched down in Jakarta for thhe first leg of their pre-season tour of Asia.

When asked about making an improved £40million offer for the unsettled Liverpool striker, he said: “As you know the transfer period demands secrets and confidentiality, so I can’t answer the question.”

Away from transfer speculation, Wenger expressed his delight at being the first English team to play in Indonesia.

“We are very happy to be here. We’ve never been here before so we want to give happiness to all our fans here. I’m sure we can leave here with great memories.

“I don’t know much about the Indonesian team, but I expect them to make us suffer! Because Asian players are quick, agile and mobile and we are at the start of the season.”
