Two men, Jonathan Ajufo, an engineer and Okechukwu Uwazuruike, a security guard were Thursday, arraigned for theft in a Wuse Zone 2 senior magistrates’ court, Abuja, .
DAILY POST gathered that the accused persons, who were working with Invent Media Company, had allegedly conspired and stole 230 litres of diesel belonging to their employer.
The prosecutor, Oturom Urom, of the Abuja Police Command’s legal section, told the court that the matter had on September 30, been reported at Wuse police station, Abuja, by one Grace Duruke of the same company.
According to Urom, discoveries during investigations revealed that the accused persons sold the stolen diesel to one Hyellamanda Ezekiel at N20, 000, adding that the offence contravened Section 288 and punishable under Section 97 (1) of the Penal Code.
The duo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge against them.
The Senior Magistrate, Chukwuemeka Ubani , granted them bail in the sum of N100, 000 and a surety each in like sum, ordering that the surety must be a civil servant above level 4 and must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.
Ubani adjourned the matter till November 2 for further hearing.
