Members of the National Assembly have warned politicians against the use of military choppers like cabs. Olubunmi Adetunmbi (ACN, Ekiti North), Ganiyu Solomon (ACN, Lagos) Babafemi Ojudu (ACN, Ekiti) and Uche Chukwumerije (PDP, Abia) blamed politicians for using a choppers meant for naval training as shuttle buses.
Deputy Senate Leader Abdul Ningi said, “It is worrisome that in this country military choppers are used indiscriminately like taxis for social events. We must bring out a standard framework of how to use military helicopters.”
The senate have resolved to mandate Navy, Air Force and Aviation committees to investigate the frequent air crashes in the country.
It would be recalled that a military chopper on Saturday crashed in Bayelsa, killing the former Kaduna State governor, Patrick Yakowa; former National Security Adviser, Andrew Azazi and their aides on board.
