The killers of police commissioner will have no rest – IGP

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, and the Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed have expressed shock over the death of Police commissioner, Chinweike Asadu who was killed by some unknown gunmen in Enugu on Saturday.

IGP Abubakar, who spoke vehemently on the killing of the Police Commissioner said that his killers would have no peace until they were brought to book.

Abubakar in his passionate and highly emotional statement described the death of the police Officer as “unfortunate and most saddening”, assuring that “those who are behind this incident have murdered sleep and will have no rest until they are brought to book”.

He instructed the special detectives and homicide unit as well as the Special Anti-Robbery Squad to support the Enugu state command to unravel the killers of the commissioner.

Similarly, the Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed described as shocking and unfortunate the death of the police commissioner.

Reacting through a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba, Governor Ahmed said the death of Mr. Asadu was a huge loss, not only to the Nigeria Police but also to Kwara State security apparatus, as the late Commissioner had exhibited a high sense of discipline and professionalism while serving the good people of Kwara State.

He said: “Late CP Chinwe Asadu, in the discharge of his duty in Kwara State contributed immensely to the sustenance of peace in the state and in the upholding of our values as a state of harmony”. Dr. Ahmed noted that it was particularly painful that late CP Asadu had become another index in the annals of the growing national insecurity, adding that “it has become very expedient for us as a national to rally round in finding enduring solution to the national malaise of insecurity”.

The Governor, who described the Late CP Asadu as a quintessential police officer, prayed God to grant the family, the rank and file of the police in the state and the Nigeria Police in its entirety the fortitude to bear the loss.
