“The heads of football have already decided who will win the Ballon D’Or” –

Jose Mourinho has claimed that “the heads of football”, have already decided who the next winner of the Ballon d’Or is.

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi, is the hot favourite to win the accolade and UEFA president, Michel Platini, has voiced his support for the Argentine superstar, stating that he didn’t mind if he broke his on record and won the award for a fourth consecutive time.

Mourinho was speaking after their Champions League game against Ajax, where Cristiano Ronaldo scored his sixth goal of the competition.

“The Ballon d’Or has already been given,” the Portuguese said. “When the heads of football speak and make the campaign, there is nothing you can do.”

The 49-year-old also reflected on his side’s performances in this season’s Champions League, where they have finished second behind Borussia Dortmund.

“We have to respect everyone. Last year we broke the record of points in the group stage, and in this year’s group of death have been second,” he said.

“We wanted to be first but it has not been possible.”

When asked about speculations surrounding his future, he joked: “They say I’m going to Paris? And the Spanish press announces [on Tuesday] that [Carlo] Ancelotti will go to Real.

“Maybe we’ll have an exchange between the two clubs. But Paris would be a good destination for … our next Champions League game?”
