The game against Australia is a must-win match – Falcons coach, Edwin Okon

Super Falcon’s coach, Edwin Okon has said that the team’s next group game against Australia on Friday is a must-win encounter.

The African champions began their 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, with a thrilling 3-3 draw against Sweden on Monday.

Okon promised fans that the team will go back to the drawing board and work on some of the mistakes that littered their game against the Swedes.

“We will go back to the drawing board to make sure we correct those mistakes of conceding own goals and not being able to defend set-pieces. We played a brand of football that was more of skill to entertain our fans.” he said.

“Our next match against Australia is a must-win and we are moving forward from there. Nothing is going to stop us.”

Ngozi Okobi, who was voted Player of the Match, after scoring one goal and providing two assists, insisted that the plan was to defeat Sweden, but said the ladies were happy with a point.

“I am excited about this game because this is my first World Cup goal and I thank God for giving me the chance and opportunity to do this,” she said.

“I was not surprised with our performance because we had planned to win the match against Sweden. The goals they scored were given to them by us, so I think we did well.”
