The $60,000 from CAF will be used to pay Siasia, others – Pinnick

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, has said that the $60,000 grant they recently got from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), will be used to pay the outstanding salaries of U-23 coach, Samson Siasia and his assistants.

Siasia, who is currently with the Dream Team at the 2016 Olympics, revealed that he was being owed for five months.

It has emerged that Siasia was ready to step down from his role, after the 1-0 win over Sweden on Monday morning, but for the intervention of captain, Mikel John Obi.

A top source in the team told AfricanFootball.com: “Siasia wanted to quit his post after the win over Sweden, but the players led by Mikel begged him to rescind his decision.

“The coach complained that he has been badly treated by the authorities, he has not been paid for five months and his team have not received the necessary support to succeed.”

However, there seems to be reprieve in sight, as Pinnick has directed for those debts to be paid off.

“I have directed the secretariat that the $60,000 we received from CAF be used immediately to pay the U23 team coaches,” Pinnick revealed on a YouTube interview with Temisan Okomi.

“Use this money to pay them and we are in the process of paying them.”
