Tension rises in Rivers state over pro-Biafra protest


Tension is rising in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital over agitation by supporters of the Indigenous People of Biafra.

The pro-Biafra supporters defiled this morning rain, besieged Port Harcourt city with a crowd from Aba, Abia state coupled with the crusaders of the secessionist group in Rivers state.

In a bid to avoid any encumbrances, the protesters have broken into group of 4; Whimpey-Iwofe road, Artillery, Oyigbo and UTC (close to the Rivers state Government House).

The protesters are chanting anti-government songs and calling for the release of the anchor of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

Security operatives including the Military, DSS and Police are on red alert to forestall any possible breakdown of Law. The operatives are in every strategic location in the state. Air Police are also carrying out aerial surveillance of the eerie situation.
