Tension has continued to mount in Asaba and its environs in Delta State over whereabouts of a 30-year-old civil servant, John Eyonal, and a 15-year female student, Magbabne Ikpeme who have not been seen for the past three months.
It was gathered that the missing duo, Eyonal, a staff of the State Bursary Board, and Ikpeme, a student of Asagba Mixed Secondary School, Asaba, were said to have left their houses three months ago and their whereabouts have remained unknown.
An uncle to John, Pa Joseph Eyonal, who spoke to DAILY POST in Asaba, said: “we have reported the matter to the police. In the past three months, we have not seen John, and even his place of work, he lives beside Asaba Aluminum Company, and we don’t know where to find him”.
Also speaking, father of Magbalene, Mr. Patrick Ikpeme, told DAILY POST that, “we are looking for our daughter, we don’t know her whereabouts, we have reported the matter to the police”.
But the police spokesman in the state, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed the development to DAILY POST, said “the police are in search of their whereabouts, they are both Ibo and speak Ibo effectively. We are appealing to members of the public to also help the police regarding their whereabouts”.
Unconfirmed sources stated that cases of missing persons have become a recurring decimal in Asaba as the disappearance of persons were allegedly traced to ritualists.
