The supreme court’s verdict slated for tomorrow to determine the credibility of the National Assembly, governorship and the state House of Assembly elections in Zamfara State in order to nullify or uphold the elections has raised tension in the State.
DAILY POST gathered that all members of the Governor’s camp have shifted their base to Abuja waiting for the decision of the Apex court.
This medium also learnt that since the litigation between the governor and the G8 group started, the governor has scarcely been in the state to attend to pressing issues that need his urgent attention.
According to a source very close to the seat of power in the state, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Abdullahi Shinkafi has always been the Acting Governor as the Governor has shifted to Abuja to see to the end of the case.
It was also revealed that the governor has rendered his deputy, Mallam Ibrahim Wakkala valueless due to the power tussle between his camp and the GB group.
Continuing, the source who pleaded anonymity noted that since the battle over who controls the soul of Zamfara politics started between the governor and the G8, the cash allocations to the deputy governor’s office have been stopped by the order of the governor, even though his salary is still being paid.
“We are surprised that both of them started the journey together and have been governing the state since 2011 but the governor refused to allow his deputy to take over from him based on the reason best known to the governor,” he lamented.
It could be recalled that the deputy governor had briefed newsmen on the matter, but the governor refused to make any statement when newsmen contacted him at the Government House in Gusau, the state capital.
However, the deputy governor has continued to lament that the governor has sidelined and taken his responsibility from him, which he said was unconstitutional.
Intense investigation revealed that those who contested the February and March elections in the state on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were all members of the governor’s camp, hence anybody that is not loyal to the governor has no political hope in the system as far as Governor Abdulaziz Yari is concerned.
A member representing Gusau/Tsafe federal constituency in the House of Representative, Hon. Isah Ruwan Doruwa told our reporter that he was stopped from returning to the National Assembly because he belongs to the G8 group.
According to him, the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) refused to sell expression and nomination form to him and other members of the G8 group, saying that they all bought their expression forms from Abuja.
However, both the governor’s camp and GB supporters are all hoping against hope that they would run away with victory on the 16th of May 2019 at the Apex court.
It could be recalled that recently, the governor in a stateside broadcast said he could not understand the gimmicks being played by the Supreme Court, stressing that on May 29th, he must definitely hand over to his anointed candidate who is Hon. Mukhtar Shehu Idris.
But the G8 group had described his statement as the ranting of ‘a rat.’
