Tension as youth clash over alleged demolition of Green Apple structure in Kaduna

For the timely intervention of police personnel to restore normalcy in a pandemonium and confusion that ensued in Kaduna and it’s environs this morning over an alleged demolition and destruction of Green Apple structure belonging to former Minister of Environment, Mrs. Laurentia Laraba Malam, the State would have been engulfed in yet another violence.

An eyewitness told DAILY POST that heavily armed boys suspected to be thugs stormed the property in buses for the exercise but youths within the area quickly organised themselves to resist the demolition exercise that almost took religious colouration.

DAILY POST gathered that news immediately went round Kaduna like wildfire, creating serious tension with several people giving it religious meaning in view of the fact that the suspected armed thugs were said to have come from a different area of the state.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that some policemen in uniform accompanied the thugs who perpetrated the attack on the building which houses a hotel and recreational facilities.

The property is said to be under dispute over its legitimate ownership.

Policemen from the metropolis and other places in Kaduna town have been drafted to ensure orderliness is maintained.

As at the time of filing this report, normalcy has been restored within the area and its environs as people are going about their normal activities.
