The Police Command in Cross River State has beefed up security in Calabar, the State capital, stationing security vehicles and personnel in strategic locations.

DAILY POST observed on Friday that Police vehicles and her personnel were seen at some major streets including eleven roundabouts.

In a press statement issued and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Ugbo on Thursday, intelligence report at the disposal of the command revealed that one Prince Ekanem and the like-minds have conspired to incite mass protest on Friday, August 2019.

She said the intention was to disrupt and discredit the smooth running of business activities and governance in the State.

“The command is aware of the fundamental human rights and freedom of lawful assembly as enshrined in the constitution of Nigeria but wishes to draw the attention of this group to section 45 of the constitution…restricted rights of the citizens of Nigeria when their actions are breaching the right of others.

“Cross River State Police Command by this press release warns any group or groups of persons attempting to engage in such unlawful venture to desist without hesitation as the Police will leave no stone unturned in dealing decisively with such persons or group.

“Parents are also advised to restrain their children/wards from getting involved in any action that could be injurious to them or to others.

“In the light of the above, the commissioner of Police wishes to assure all law-abiding Cross Riverians and others residing in the state to go about their normal business” she stated.
